Arts in Education

From 2008-2011 I have been based in three West Yorkshire primary schools in partnership with Cape Uk. Each school is part of a programme addressing a specific research question encompassing how creativity can support childrens engagement and learning. I worked alongside a film-maker and together we worked with teachers in all year groups to help them develop creative skills in delivering a more creative curriculum.

“I felt I could trust Helen, I felt confident with her and I felt like she was going to support me. Then when I saw her in action it thought “Oh my god! She’s really good! I’m really going to miss her. She’s so supportive, generous, easy-going, friendly, and knowledgeable: just wonderful and she just gave me that confidence.”

“We kept on doing it and doing it and doing it again but we never felt bored we always felt excited.Every single time we did it there was always something that was so special about it.”

“I used to feel very shy but now I don’t. I’ve got more confidence in front of other people.I think Helen is a really good drama teacher because every single time we went we would always learn something new like different games. She was a fun teacher. We’re going to miss her. I wish we could go back in time and do it all again.”
